THIS COMIC HAS BEEN UPDATED

This is a new version of my old Franky's First Cola comic. The old version is now in my scraps pile. Mostly I just thought the editing on the old one was not good -- it looked garish! I tried to make this one softer and more appealing.

This is basically the story of a small, significant moment in Franky and Iceburg's childhood. It's just about being brothers =)

The first panel of this comic (WHICH TOOK FOREVER) is available separately in my gallery.

PLEASE READ

This file is HUGE -- 1.6 MB. I'm currently working on a version on my personal site that breaks this comic up into smaller images. That should be up in an hour or two, so if you have a slower connection, that's your best choice. Thanks for heeding my marning! :)

That said, this is the comic that I've been promising and promising would come. This is the (short) story of Franky's first cola, and I have worked VERY hard the past week to finish this as a big, huge THANK YOU to everyone who has visited my galleries! So, you can think of this as my big 1,000 hits submission. I hope you enjoy it, becuase I'm certainly grateful for the time you have chosen to spend in my galleries :D

The first sketches for this comic were made in November, 2005, and it was completed on April 20, 2006. It was sketched in very lightly with pencils, and beyond that done entirely in ink with brushes. No pens were used, and all details and line work were done with brushes.

This short story is meant to illustrate some of the feeling of family I get from Tom's Workers, and specifically the grudging brotherly relationship between Iceburg and Franky when they were young. You can read whatever else you want into it, but the original intent is to showcase the relationship between the adoptive brothers.

The comic reads vertically -- I have deliberately avoided a right-left or left-right format. The style is not so much panel-based, but pretty loose. Also, there is talking, but no actual words. I hope this helps with the light, informal style of the comic, while keeping the comic available to a wide variety of people!

I have A LOT to say about this comic. However, I won't bore you with pages of chatter here. Instead, I'm working on a "director's commentary" version where I can talk as much as I want, which will go in my scraps pile and be linked to here. A slow connection version will also go up on my site.

I will make a couple of the more interesting panels available as individual deviations as well:

Oh, girl, it so good! I adore the last image! Actually, the second-to-last image is the best with it's faded lines and lack of crisp definition. It's so perfect. I really like the emotion that comes out of it. I think the color scheme you used worked perfectly. The blue fadeout was a much better choice. I still have so much love for grumpy!Iceburg. *grins*

You outdid yourself, girlie. Looks great!

I was so sad about having to shrink this thing down to a reasonable size. I'm reposting some of the more interesting panels at original size =P
