So here's the theory:
Franky's back isn't metal, though most of the rest of him is. Say he's still new in town after returning four years afer being run over. He runs into some trouble and manages to get his back slashed pretty good, bending some of the plates bordering it or something. Iceburg finds out and, exasperated, heads over to fix him up, cause Franky can't reach.
Theoretically, he'll have a screwdriver in one hand and wrench in the other, and a bandage in his teeth the rest of which is wrapped around Franky's torso.
